SINGER SEWING CENTRE - WINS SMALL BUSINESS RETAILER OF THE YEAR AWARD 2010/11
The North Tyneside Small Business Awards were held on Tuesday 14th December at North Tyneside Business Village. The categories were: Manufacturing, Services, Retail, Business Start-ups, and Young Entrepreneur. The awards ceremony was attended by the Chief Executive of North Tyneside Council, the Mayor of the North Tyneside, as well as blue chip local company representatives.
The Singer Sewing Centre from Whitley Bay was one of two finalists in the retail category who were asked to attend and ultimately were successful in claiming the top prize as winner of the Retail category.
Accepting the award for Singer Sewing Centre was company director Colin Mills. Colin expressed his thanks for being selected for the Retailer of the Year award and also his appreciation and thanks to his staff for their support and hard work. He added ‘Over the last year, when many companies have suffered hardship, we have worked extra hard to find new openings and expand into new premises allowing us to set up Sewing, Quilting and Craft Classes. We would hope we have brought a little something extra to the town of Whitley Bay, which is slowly seeing more shops opening and becoming the busy town centre we once knew.
