A wonderful day out @ Whitley Bay!

Singer @ Whitley bay hosted an Horizon event in their dedicated sewing class room for ladies who were considering the new Janome long arm quilting machine.... but wanted to have to good play on it first! As you can see from the smiles below... everyone had a wonderful day and some had to take the machine home with them there and then! Singer @ Whitley Bay run a varied selection of workshops and regular classes, from dressmaking to patch work and quilting. Test out the new Janome Horizon @ Bambers!

Bambers was established in 1946 by Roy Bambers, and is now ran by Roy's son's, Alan and Steve. It has traded from various locations around the Manchester area, and now has large premises on Liverpool Road, just off J11 on the M60. Bamber's has the full range of Janome machines on display, so just pop in for a demonstration or check out any new Janome accessories! Today, we held a Janome Horizon Test Drive event, a great opportunity for ladies to try out the machine before they purchase. The Jog Dial, which can be seen below, is a quick way of choosing stitches... and look at the huge clear extension table... this is included with the machine!

There classroom has lots of space to spread out and great natural light, an ideal place for sewing. They hold several regular sewing and quilt classes, just check out their website for full details. Workshops.

Horizon Test Drive @ Fox Sewing Machines in Derby

On Tuesday Fox Sewing Machine on Babbington Lane in Derby ran an Horizon Test drive for Ladies, and gent on this occasion, to test the new features of the fantastic long armed quilting machine.
Carmela, who can be seen helping the students below, took over the business a few years ago, and has since gone from strength to strength to grow the business.

The Janome Horizon has an Acufeed system, which is an integrated walking foot, which give excellent feeding when stitching thick quilting and wadding or any difficult, thick fabrics. You can see below, the different types of Acufeed Feet available, from left to right, Acufeed Ditch Foot, Acufeed 1/4" Foot, and Acufeed Opentoe Foot. The big beast you can seen in the back of the photo, is the new Binding Attachment especially designed to bind thick wadding.... it really is clever! Everyone loved the Horizon machine, look at the beautiful stitches below, it also has loads of Crazy Quilt stitches to decorate pieced seams.

Horizon Day @ Coventry Sewing Centre

Coventry Sewing Centre is the best in the area for Janome sewing, embroidery and quilting machines, and holds many Janome accessories in stock as well. I visited the shop in September, to show some of the local sewers the new Janome Horizon and as you can see below, everyone was working hard on their Test Drive projects and enjoying using the new long armed quilting machine.
The large sewing space is a must for quilters, and any sewer who works on large projects will also appreciate this space!

Horizon Test Drive @ Bridlington Sewing Centre

John and Barbara Hall own and run the Sewing Centre in Bridlington. The shop is an Aladdin's cave for Janome sewing machines, accessories, fabrics, haberdashery and trimmings! And all their regular customers would agree, that John and Barbara are lovely people to deal with. John has many years of experience with sewing machines, and will turn his hand to all sewing machine repairs and servicing. Barbara loves to sew and even has her own Janome MC11000 at home!

In September, we ran a Test Drive day for ladies thinking of buying the Janome Horizon 7700QCP, and what a wonderful time we had. What could be better.. a play on the new machine... and a biscuit or two at the same time!
Everyone loved the new Play and Pictograph stitches, and look at the size of the extension table that comes with it....a really necessity when working on big sewing and quilting projects.

Horizon Project Workshop @ Couling Sewing Machines in Lincoln

Couling Sewing Machines is a true family business.
Alan has been in the sewing machine trade for over forty years and established his own business in 1982. Carol, his wife, is a fully trained demonstrator and offers free tuition on all machines bought in the shop. A few years ago, their son, Steven joined the family business, and has full engineer training... and of course, plenty of machines to gain experience on! Today, we ran a Test Drive workshop, for ladies who are thinking of purchasing the Janome Horizon 7700QCP. Alan couldn't help seeing what the ladies were making...

And Carol used the chance to spend some time on the machine, and make a lovely sample for the shop!
All the ladies had a wonderful time... and some enjoyed it that much... they had to order the machine there and then!

What's on the Horizon... a wet day in Whitley Bay??

Q. What's the best way to spend a wet July day in Whitley Bay??

A. A wonderful sewing workshop on the new Janome Horizon long arm quilting machine at The Singer Sewing Centre, Whitley Road!

Quilter's and dressmakers alike love the new Janome Horizon machine! Quilters love the 11" sewing area, convertable straight stitch needle plate and a huge selection of great quilting stitches.....dressmakers love the full range of utility stitches, a huge selection of buttonholes, knee lift, and extension table... and what about the seven levels of foot pressure? Or built in thread cutters... or how about the extra long free arm??
Today's workshop was a chance for the ladies to test the machine, we even tested to see if it would fit a large quilt in the sewing area... and guess what... it did!...
Some of the ladies fell in love with the Horizon .. they just had to place an order there and then!

Horizon Day in Ashby de la Zouch...

Fabulous Fabrics is a haven for dressmakers! This shop has everything you will need for dressmaking, from wool suiting's, summery retro prints, stretch lingerie laces... and all the trimmings you will want to match as well.
Alison Smith, the owner of Fabulous Fabrics, also runs Alison Victoria School of Sewing in the class rooms above the shop. She specialises in bridal, tailoring, corsetry and lingerie classes, and runs various classes to City and Guilds status. The shops has a wonderful "drapers" shop feel to it, and you will love having a mooch around the fabrics and trimmings.

On Thursday I ran a Horizon Test Drive for ladies who are thinking of buying our new machine, and everyone had a great time playing with the new stitches, and trying out all the wonderful features of this long arm quilting machine.

Horizon Day @ D C Nutt in Walsall

David Nutt, from Bloxwich, is a great supporter of Janome machines, and today we ran an Horizon Test Drive in his dedicated class room above the shop. The ladies really enjoyed the chance to have a "hands on play" with the machine and a chance to try all the lovely stitches. A few ladies loved it so much... they had to take one home with them!

Test Drive of the new Horizon @ Bambers Sewing Machines

Last week Bambers Sewing Machines in Eccles ran a Test Drive day on the Horizon 7700QCP. This was a chance for ladies who are thinking of buyer the machine to have a "hands on" session and Test Drive the machine, as you would Test Drive a new car!
The Horizon has lots of wonderful features, such as the adjustable knee lift you can see below,


and the huge clear extension table for supporting your quilt when you are sewing.
The new Play Stitches look beautiful when stitched out using the Janome Border Guide Foot (this foot is included with the Horizon 7700QCP), and the ladies just fell in love with the little bobbin of thread and dress form embroidery stitch!
